Because our sister Shannon passed away due to an unexpected medical outcome, we have been advocates for patient safety programs and initiatives since 2004. Here are some resources for becoming an empowered patient. We donate a portion of our sales to organizations and individuals making a difference in patient safety.
Because we have grown up with our father as a police chief and our grandfather as a fire chief, Luna’s Light has been impacted by the safety forces community. In 2001, a law enforcement officer was killed in the line of duty every 39 hours. Below is a brief list of resources for the survivors of law enforcement officers. Concerns of Police Survivors (COPS)- a nation-wide non-profit organization providing resources to assist in the rebuilding of the loves of Survivors of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.
If you feel you may be suicidal, call 911 immediately. If you are in a crisis situation or experiencing depressive thoughts or feelings, please contact a 24-hour crisis hotline in your area, usually found in the front of most telephone books. You can also contact the National Suicide Hotline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
