Peace Officer & Firefighter Resources

Because we have grown up with our father as a police chief and our grandfather as a fire chief, Luna’s Light has been impacted by the safety forces community. In 2001, a law enforcement officer was killed in the line of duty every 39 hours. Below is a brief list of resources for the survivors of law enforcement officers. Concerns of Police Survivors (COPS)- a nation-wide non-profit organization providing resources to assist in the rebuilding of the loves of Survivors of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.

Grief and Counseling Resources


If you feel you may be suicidal, call 911 immediately. If you are in a crisis situation or experiencing depressive thoughts or feelings, please contact a 24-hour crisis hotline in your area, usually found in the front of most telephone books. You can also contact the National Suicide Hotline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255).

Across the U.S.:

  • The Compassionate Friends is a worldwide support organization offering friendship and understanding to families grieving the death of a child of any age or cause. Call to find a group closest to you: 1-877-969-0010 or visit www.compassionatefriends.org

  • Growth House, Inc. is an informative portal providing up to the minute resources on grief and death. Visit their site at www.growthhouse.org/death.html

  • Contact your local religious center (i.e church, temple, etc.) to inquire about their bereavement resources.

In the Cleveland, Ohio area:
